This year’s Fashion Awards, were no longer The British fashion awards, they had gone global! Yes baby, global! Ooo la la! You know what this means, all the top designers, Hollywood A-listers, musicians, and models were all under one roof! And by roof I don’t mean just any roof (cue the M&S advert voice!), The Royal Albert Hall roof! It was literally all the glitz and glam you could wish for including a Swarovski crystal-studded red carpet!
We were each individually greeted by a (very handsome!) chaperone and escorted down the red carpet! This carpet was honestly the most extravagant, overwhelming carpet I have ever been on, it was up there with the MTV VMAs – ok now I’m just name dropping! …It was absolutely amazing. Everywhere I turned I saw a familiar face, from Lady Gaga to Ralph Lauren to Jared Leto, David Beckham – you name them, they were all there.
Inside was a sit-down meal and then the awards commenced! With Jack Whitehall as host, we knew we were in for a good night and of course some pretty risqué jokes too! But come on, that’s what we love him for. With winners including Alexander McQueen, Alessandro Michele for Gucci, Demna Gvasalia for Balenciaga, Molly Goddard and Gigi Hadid, we were surrounded by incredible talent and the acceptance speeches, as expected, were more than memorable.
It was my second time being invited to the Fashion Awards and I have to say I felt very humbled and honoured to be in the company of such icons on the night.
Until next time, I will leave you with a fashion quote that made me chuckle a few weeks ago and made me swiftly change my outfit: “sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants” – Karl Lagerfeld. You heard him girls… go get changed right now!
From London with love,
